Apple released iPhone OS 3.0 today which is a significant upgrade that will add features and stability to your iPhone.
To install the update, simply connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes. You must have the latest version (8.2) of iTunes installed in order to proceed with the update.
After launching iTunes 8.2 and plugging in your phone, your iPhone should appear in the left column of iTunes under the "Devices" heading. Click on it, and you should see a white screen on the right, with a gray area in the middle. You should now have two options, "Check for Update" and "Restore". Click "Check for Update" and follow the on-screen instructions to update your iPhone to the latest 3.0 operating system. Make sure to keep your USB cable plugged in during the entire update process.
