This tutorial shows how to undo the custom dd-wrt v24 sp1 firmware on your WRT54G v8 router and restore the linksys firmware.

First we have to go to the linksys website and download the newest firmware available, and also goto the dd-wrt website and download the vxworksrevert-Gv8-v3.bin file.

After you have the files downloaded, using a cat5 cable plug into a lan port on your router and open your web browser and login to the web gui. Once you are logged into your dd-wrt gui click the adminstration tab and click on firmware upgrade tab; use these settings.

Choose dont reset
Choose the vxworksrevert-Gv8-v3.bin
Click Upgrade

Now wait for the unit to reboot.  This may take a couple of minutes so be patient.

After waiting try to login in using your browser by going to the url http://192.168.1.1 if you get no response power cycle the router and try to login again.

You now should be presented with the "Management Mode Firmware Upgrade" screen.

Click the browse button and choose the linksys firmware you downloaded from linksys.
Click the apply button and wait for the "Upgrade Success" screen.

Next power cycle the router one more time.

Finally log into the router and the linksys firmware should now be on the router with all the default settings.
