If you are looking for an effective, lightweight, and FREE anti-virus solution for your home PC, then Avast! is for you. I have extensively used the other free anti virus programs including AVG, Avira, Clam, and my top recommendation is Avast!

Benefits:

• Frequent automatic virus definition updates
• Updates are unobtrusive
• Low memory footprint
• Option for scan on reboot
• 14-month license key

Complaints:

The only complaint I have with Avast! is that you are required to register your software in order to get your 14 month license key. This step only takes a few minutes, and your license key is emailed immediately, but I wish the installation would automatically generate a serial number like AVG does.

Overall, Avast! is an excellent solution for any home user needing a free anti-virus package.
